Adventure #1

Wow what a weekend and what an adventure. This weekend I had a wedding cake to do and I had every intention of posting something for the 4th because my kitchen was already covered in powdered sugar but the storms had a different idea. I had to take my powdered sugar else where. Around 5pmto yesterday we lost power. The good thing was all the cakes were baked and the icing made. I tried to ice the cake with a flash light in my other had. It was getting darker and the power was still not on. I had a decision to make. Do i wait it out or pack it all up and head to electricity? Come 10pm we were still out and I was beginning to worry it would get too warm in the house and the butter cream would start to melt. I made my decision...off to my brothers I went powdered sugar and all. My brother was nice enough to cover their dinning room table with a table cloth. I was a good sister though and brought my own folding table for my mess. I was not going to subject his furniture to my wrath of powdered sugar. By 3am I had finished and was ready for some shut eye. You never know what card you will be dealt but this weekend I was very appreciative of the help. All in all everything turned out ok and it was a fun adventure. I will post a picture when the power comes back on...7pm Saturday and still out. Thank goodness for phones.

Update...
The power finally came on Monday night. It has been one busy week. Here is a picture of the cake :)

Sweet Summertime

It's summertime and you know what that means...picnics and bbq's. Today I'm going to share with you a sweet treat I made my mom make a million times when I was a kid. I loved to help her make them and they are yummy and very cute too.
You will need:
Vanilla wafers, Grasshopper cookies, a can of icing (I used cream cheese) & food coloring.

Ice one wafer green for lettuce and one red and yellow for ketchup and mustard...do you know what they are yet???

Mini hamburgers! They are sure to bring a sweet touch to your next picnic or bbq.

Happy Sweet Tooth Saturday!

My Sweet Tooth

My love for baking and everything sweet started at a young age. Growing up my Grandma had a very successful cake decorating business. I can remember the smell of her house with the delicious cakes cooling on the kitchen table and the wonderful taste of her homemade icing as I took too many licks from the mixing bowl. My Grandma has taught me a lot of the skills I use today and one Christmas a few years ago I received an amazing gift; she graciously gave me her cake decorating supplies. My kitchen quickly became covered with flour and powdered sugar but soon began to take on the wonderful smells I remembered from my childhood. I started to become more confident in my baking and began filling orders of my own. Two years ago this month I hosted a Sweet Tooth Saturday. My family and friends gathered to taste many cake flavors, icings and fillings. It was a day full of laughter and of course a cure for our sweet tooth. So stop by on Saturday's where I will share recipes, photos and adventures of wherever my sweet tooth will take me.
Thanks for stopping by!
